VCD 06 | Project 2 – Animated Antonyms 
What is a rubric? A rubric explains the criteria I use in assigning grades and serves as a guide to help you as you complete your projects. What constitutes “A” work? I have not specified what constitutes an “A” to help you focus on doing the best work that you can with out being preoccupied by whether or not you’ve done just enough to get the right letter grade. Design is a creative endeavor. Consequently, doing well depends on more than just fulfilling the bare minimum assignment requirements.

Part III: Annotated Storyboards

Exceptional | A+ range
Very Good | B+ range

Story boards are clearly annotated with all of the following information:
– time stamp
– vector and images in the frame
– arrows or icons communicating movement of characters and transitions
– notes regarding movement, sound, and time for the piece

Annotated storyboards clearly and successfully convey the narrative/story for the piece

All frames that are needed to communicate transitions and the entire story are included.
Acceptable | C range

Story boards are some what annotated with two of the following pieces of information:
– time stamp
– vector and images in the frame
– arrows or icons communicating movement of characters and transitions
– notes regarding movement, sound, and time for the piece

Annotated storyboards some what convey the narrative/story for the piece

Majority of frames to communicate transitions and the story are included but are missing a few key frames.
Unacceptable | F range

Fails to turn in story boards or the story boards that are turned in only include one of the following pieces of information:
– time stamp
– vector and images in the frame
– arrows or icons communicating movement of characters and transitions
– notes regarding movement, sound, and time for the piece

Annotated storyboards do not convey the narrative/story for the piece
Part IV: Animation

Exceptional | A+ range
Very Good | B+ range

Final animation utilizes only letterforms that are in both antonyms

Viewer is able to clearly recognize the terms and infer their meaning from their interplay.

Animation length is between 20–30 seconds

Only simple geometric sans serifs are used

Only black, white, and levels of gray or transparency are used

Animation successfully and eloquently loops while still making sense with the narrative.
Acceptable | C range

Final animation utilizes 1-5 more letterforms than are in both antonyms

Viewer is some what able to recognize the terms and infer their meaning from their interplay.

Animation length is 5 seconds shorter or longer than the requested length

A non-geometric sans serifs is used (Optima, Gill Sans, etc)

Contrast is ok but could be increased to make individual pieces and their movements stand out.

Animation loops but is disjointed or d
Unacceptable | F range

Final animation utilizes 5+ more letterforms than are in both antonyms

Viewer is unable to recognize the terms and infer their meaning from their interplay.

Animation length is significantly shorter or longer than the requested length

A display or serif typeface is used.

Not very much contrast between elements in the piece

Animation does not successfully loop.
