Full IRE Grading Rubric/Conventions x 
This is the rubric that will be used for grading the Full-IRE. Marking Conventions: WM = Writing Mechanics (includes spelling, grammar, and other mechanical infelicities) CL = Clarity (includes imprecisions and ambiguities in writing that mitigate the clarity/perspicuity of your piece) **Problems with mechanics and clarity will affect scores for each of the components to the extent they are present therein**

• Relevance/Centrality (R/C): How central to the author’s thesis is your reflection on why it matters?

• Depth of Inquiry (DI): To what extent does your reflection on why the author’s thesis matters reveal a depth of inquiry (i.e., thinking deeply and imaginatively about implications)?

• (R/C): exploration entirely or largely fails to capture and express an implication of central argumentative importance

• (DI): exploration fails to reflect deep and imaginative thinking
